Merry & Bright: Our Holiday Inspirations

holiday-cover-image Typically we concentrate on the commercial end of things since that’s our daily focus, but for the holidays this year we’re getting a little more personal. Several of our interior designers share a few of their favorite things when it comes to holiday décor.  Hopefully some of the concept images, personal photos and trends that have inspired us will provide new ideas to help make your home or business festive and inviting.

This image appeals to me because it’s a light, modern take on the holidays.  The mix of materials, metals, and textures creates warmth and interest in the absence of color, and the light touch of greens brings life to the display.

I particularly like that this arrangement of accessories could be left in place throughout the winter months – extending the warmth and comfort that holiday décor adds to an interior.

charlotte-graphic The Holiday Trend for this year is “The Natural Look!”  It is super easy to decorate for this style.  Just use simple greens, fruit, burlap ribbons and string, pinecones, candles and copper wire LED mini lights to add the SPARKLE!

I took this picture at Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford, Pennsylvania a few years ago.  I like the idea of using clear ornaments and mixing in simple, natural colors to complement the traditional ball ornaments.

vicki-graphic I like the alternative styling to a traditional Menorah. When grouped differently, it could be displayed all year long without candles.

I love this image because it is so rustic and cozy. For me, the perfect atmosphere to enjoy the holidays includes a warm fire, natural decorations and comfortable chairs.

liz-graphic I prefer to keep my tree light and bright with silver and gold!  I use plaid pillows and faux fur blankets to give my home a warm and cozy feeling!  I also, like to use some of the greens from trimming the tree for small accents around the house.

To pick ONE picture that captures the holidays and why it appeals to me is nearly impossible. I’m a huge fan of Christmas—the  decorations, the music, the variety of colors, the snow, spending time with family, giving back to others, baking cookies, making memories with my close friends and family—the list goes on and on. Although the holidays are chaotic, there is always time to sit back, relax and enjoy your surroundings. There’s something about it all that makes me smile!

My inspiration photo example explains it well—snow outside, very homelike and relaxing, Christmas colors and decorations.  It would be the perfect place to make memories with friends and family.

My holiday inspiration starts on the outside.  I love the simple elegance of natural greens against the texture of the house and the beauty of the white snow that really makes them “pop.”
