The work includes comprehensive renovations and additions to the existing Littlestown Area High School which will transform it into Littlestown Area School District’s new Secondary School for grades 6 through 12. The existing building totals approximately 185,930 square feet on three floors. When complete, the new Secondary School will total 248,974 square feet on three floors. This work is to be completed on the existing 28 acre site and adjacent parcel comprising the remainder of the District’s academic campus. The existing grades 9-12 High School facility will remain in operation, with the work conducted through phased construction. Work includes, but is not limited to: selective demolition to accomplish new work, reinforced concrete foundations, concrete slabs on grade, metal roof deck supported by steel bar joists and beams supported by CMU load –bearing walls and in select areas a structural steel frame. A portion of the existing built-up roofing system will be replaced with an EPDM adhered roofing system over existing gypsum roof deck. Areas of new construction will also utilize an EPDM adhered roofing system that is to be placed over new metal roof deck with areas of tapered insulation as well as continuous sloped roof structure. The exterior load bearing concrete masonry walls are clad in brick veneer, large format masonry units, vertical metal panel siding, and an exterior insulation & finish system. Exterior openings are primarily a thermally broken aluminum storefront system. Interior partitions are a mixture of CMU and load-bearing CMU, with areas of gypsum wall board on metal stud partitions. Interior doors are primarily solid core wood doors or hollow metal doors in hollow metal frames with some areas having interior aluminum storefront doors and frames. Finish flooring materials include Terrazzo, LVT, VCT, Carpet and Ceramic tile. In areas of new construction, many of the corridors and educational spaces have sealed concrete as the flooring finish. The project includes replacement and expansion of all existing utility and site utility connections as well as comprehensive replacement and upgrades of existing mechanical, plumbing, electrical, technology and access control systems. The entire work area within the building will receive a new fire suppression system with provisions to expand the fire suppression system to areas outside of the work area at a later date. The existing building will be separated into separate areas, divided by two-hour fire walls. New food service equipment, gymnasium equipment and accessories, and science lab equipment will be supplied with the project. Several project alternates will provide the opportunity to expand the project scope outside of the base bid parameters.
Documents are anticipated to be available starting on June 5, 2023 and a Mandatory Pre-bid on June 15, 2023. Bids are anticipated to be due July 13, 2023.
