Honors Hall, Lycoming College

Williamsport, PA

This adaptive reuse project transformed a condemned building into a beautiful multi-use cultural resource. In addition to the main recital hall, the building also houses offices for the Honors Program, Campus Ministry and Community Services, a student lounge and a meditation chapel. Working entirely within the existing building envelope, the dramatic transformation incorporates pieces of the college’s history. The recital hall features extensive interior detailing and casework, with environmentally friendly cork flooring.

Performing Arts & Humanities Center, York College of Pennsylvania

York, PA

A former gymnasium, natatorium and classroom facilities were renovated and expanded. The main element of the new Performing Arts Center is a 750-seat theater with stage and full fly loft. The building includes a second “black box” performance space, as well as classrooms below the theater at a basement level. Back of house spaces include a green room, changing rooms, a scenery shop and storage areas. The adjacent former gymnasium structure was renovated into classrooms, offices and support spaces to form the Humanities Center which includes 26 classrooms, large group instruction area, learning resource area and café.

Woodcrest Villa, Viva Centre

Lancaster, PA

Viva, often translated to “long live,” is an apt description for this welcome center focused on vitality and community engagement. Feathered into a hillside between existing apartment wings, this expansion more than doubled the size of the community center. The welcome center at the main entrance features a two-story lobby and pre-gathering area outside the new 300-person performing arts center. The fitness components of the wellness center include an aquatics center with lap pool and warm water therapy spa, a fitness classroom, cardio equipment room and lockers with changing rooms. The upper level includes a bistro, beauty shop, theater, billiards and terrace with dining grill area and bocce courts.

Asbury Place, Arbor Acres

Winston-Salem, NC

This new three-story, 60-unit assisted living residence embraces both the arts and technology to create an environment rich in amenities and beauty. The gracious residence includes an atrium dining room, commissary, library, fitness/rehabilitation therapy center, multi-purpose room and day spa. Six two-bedroom apartments, expected to accommodate couples, are designed to be convertible into 12 studio apartments if needed to respond to future market needs. The therapy/fitness center includes occupational and physical therapy areas, private treatment rooms and a therapeutic pool with an underwater treadmill. The 2,000 SF spa features not only European showers and spa tubs, but also massage therapy, guided imagery, aromatherapy and towel warmers.

Coburg Village, the Lutheran Care Network

Rexford, NY

Master planning resulted in the expansion of this 55+ rental community including 78 one and two-bedroom apartments, ranging from 826 up to 1,179 square feet. The new apartments provide larger living spaces, introduce open kitchens with breakfast bars and offer screened-in porches and balconies. Expanded community areas include a new Parisian-style bistro offering tableside service and patio seating, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a large auditorium for musical performances, speaker presentations, parties and other functions. Also featured are a specially designed art studio and an expanded chapel to accommodate a variety of denominations.
