New Castle Hospice Care Center

The New Castle Care Center is designed to enable Delaware Hospice to provide residents of Northern Delaware with ready access to inpatient care as well as provide space for Home Hospice Care, Grief and Loss Counseling Center and administrative areas to support a hospice care program averaging 750 patients per day.

Site studies of the rural 18 acre site resulted in a plan layout that provides all inpatient rooms with abundant sunlight and views of the surrounding countryside.  Designed as a series of connected pavilions, the buildings are designed to reflect the rural context with bold “barn colors”, classic forms and details including board and batten siding, covered porches and cupolas. Patient guest rooms are organized into two neighborhoods of eight guest rooms, each with its own common spaces for family members.
