West Shore School District: Allen Middle School Additions & Renovations
The Additions and Renovations project to Allen Middle School for West Shore School District is a comprehensive project of the existing 7th and 8th grade school located at 4225 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA,17011. The overall project consists of partial demolition (approximately 30,000sf) and full renovations to the remainder of the existing school (approximately 75,000sf) including replacement of exterior walls in the existing corridor wings. Additions to the building (approximately 73,000sf) include new entry, cafeteria, learning commons, art, and 2 classroom wings. Renovations include 2 classroom wings, gymnasium, auditorium and music suites. The existing facility is a one-story school with a mechanical basement level.
The building is type IIB construction with masonry bearing in the additions. Portions of the existing building are structural columns and beams with infill walls. The proposed exterior wall systems include both masonry with metal panel or masonry veneer or metal stud and metal panel infills at the renovation areas. The roof system is a full replacement including insulation and new EPDM roofing system. The project includes full demolition and new construction of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Civil work includes comprehensive site upgrades with new stormwater management, new drive access, sidewalks and PennDOT required work on Gettysburg Road.
The project follows IBC 2021 code requirements; reference Code Sheet A001 for additional information in the Construction Documents. Jurisdiction for approvals is through Lower Allen Township.
The scope of work is split across 5 prime contracts and construction estimates consisting of the following:
Bid A: General Construction Work: $30,000,000
Bid B: Plumbing Work: $4,000,000
Bid C: Mechanical Work (HVAC): $8,000,000
Bid D: Electrical Work: $7,500,000
Bid E: Civil Work: $5,500,000
