We are excited to announce the promotion of Sam Betancourt. Sam has been a BIM technician at RLPS since 2016 and was recently promoted to Architectural Associate upon earning his Bachelor of Architecture from Drexel University. (Sam earned his degree by taking night classes in Philadelphia while still working at RLPS full time!)

We asked Sam a few questions about his career path and personal inspiration to help you get to know him a bit better.
What is a favorite quote or phrase to live by?
A quote that I live by is “Both? Both? Both. Both is good.” It is a quote from the movie The Road To El Dorado. It embodies my life in many ways, but always reminds me that life can be many things at the same time. I don’t have to limit myself to one thing at a time. Both or many more things can be true at one time. It reminds me to live wide and to take in as much as I can and want to. This life is short; there is no reason not to have both.
What’s something on your “bucket list?”
I don’t know if I could fill out a full “bucket list,” but something I always wanted to do was eat at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Food has always been a passion of mine, so much so I traveled to Japan just to eat some food (totally worth it). When I’m not at work, I’m usually in the kitchen cooking something for myself, my beautiful wife, and our two daughters.
Anything else you want to add?
Working at RLPS has deepened my understanding that Architecture is truly about the people. The buildings and spaces we design are not just four walls but places where people can Be. For me, this passion extends beyond the office. I support my local community through a local non-profit organization that supports my fellow LGBTQIA+ community of Lancaster County.
The next time you’re at the RLPS office or see Sam out and about in Lancaster, be sure to congratulate him on both his degree and promotion.
Congratulations, Sam!
We’re proud of your accomplishment and excited to see what your future holds.
