Campus transformation for a dementia positive community

Since 1992, the dementia specialists at LiveWell have focused exclusively on supporting individuals at all stages of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Multi-faceted updates will define the next generation of support, helping people live well.  The LiveWell campus offers residential care, community services and resources for people living with dementia and their families.

The first phase of this transformation included construction of two new residences, the River Homes, that use pioneering technology to promote independent living. This phase also added the Center for Resilient Living (CRL), a new campus center. It serves as a hub for a variety of programming offered in spaces designed with intentionality for their distinct purpose. When you walk into a room, the program-specific design helps you intuitively know why you’re there and know what to expect. The second phase of the transformation includes complete renovations of current skilled nursing and assisted living spaces that will promote more privacy and direct outdoor access.

This campus transformation redefines life with dementia by helping people adapt to cognitive change on their own terms.

Phase One

The River Homes

The River Homes provide a new assisted living housing option redefining life with dementia.

The result of a planning process involving people living with dementia to help define programming objectives, these well-appointed residences provide a unique living arrangement for people with dementia who need limited support.

In addition to serving current LiveWell residents, the CRL extends its services to people from the surrounding community.

The Center

for Resilient Living (CRL)

The CRL enhances LiveWell’s adult day programming by providing purpose-built spaces to explore interests and pursue passions through classes, workshops, arts, cultural, social and wellness opportunities.

The design result is an open and engaging collection of distinct adult day and community education venues, each specially imagined for a unique function and creating opportunities for authentic interactions.
