Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development supports over 4,000 children annually by offering outpatient and in-home therapy services from birth to age 21. They also provide early education, preschool, child care, recreation programs, and summer camps.

Schreiber focuses on each child’s unique strengths to help them reach their full potential. The goal of this project was to create a more coherent building by keeping children’s services solely throughout the first floor. The reconfiguration of the transitional spaces aimed to make the building feel more welcoming and less institutionalized. Design of an interactive outdoor therapy garden, physical therapy gym, and animated corridors and waiting areas enhance the overall experience for families. Additional programs were added to provide comfort such as unisex changing rooms to allow for easy use by children and their caretakers.

The children’s physical therapy gym is a vibrant, engaging space designed to support various therapeutic activities through specialized equipment and interactive play areas.

It provides a safe environment where children can develop their strength, coordination, and confidence while having fun during their therapy sessions.

One of the most unique features of the new gym is the OASUS Harness System, a cutting-edge bodyweight support system that aids children with mobility issues during their therapy sessions. The system facilitates dynamic training, and helps children develop motor skills, balance, and coordination while promoting independence.

The gym offers a variety of equipment and techniques to support children's physical therapy and mobility, including a harness-equipped treadmill, climbing ladder and wall, and throwing exercises. Modular equipment can be easily moved to allow therapists to create customized therapy sessions tailored to each child's needs.

The waiting rooms throughout the Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development are engaging and educating with interactive murals and toys.

The colorful artwork not only captivates young visitors but also helps reduce anxiety, creating a positive atmosphere while they await their sessions.
