RLPS worked with Radley Run Country Club, its board of directors and its membership to cast a new vision for an existing 30,000 square foot legacy clubhouse, 2,300 square foot paddle hut, ten court tennis center and 7,500 square foot historic mansion event space. The goal was to develop facilities that reposition the club as a family-oriented destination with a strong emphasis on racquet sports and wellness.

The Charrette

Starting a Club Master Plan

At RLPS, Master planning is a strategic and collaborative process, and Radley Run Country Club’s first step int their master plan was holding a charrette.

The University of Oregon shares that a design charrette “is a short, collaborative meeting during which a member or client can share their work with members of their team. They can talk through, collaborate, and sketch designs to explore and share a broad diversity of design ideas.”

The design team, consultants and Radley Run Country Club representatives conducted high-energy, interactive reviews and concept advancements to quickly build consensus on a future direction for Radley Run Country Club. The objective of the charrette was to ensure that all participants developed a clear understanding of high-level options for the club which could be further refined throughout the design process. An RLPS charrette also includes an interior design trends presentation that accompanies the master planning of interior spaces.

A Welcoming Entry
The main foyer of the clubhouse needed to be refreshed on a budget - the Master Plan design renovated the space without moving key elements such as the stair and main entry point.
Reinvigorating a Forgotten Feature
Reimaging the historic 1770 Mansion House terrace as a place for gatherings and events brings life to a once overlooked campus feature.
Reflecting A Cohesive Campus Design through the Sports Lounge & Bistro
The club Master Plan imagined the Sports Lounge & Bistro as a casual dining and social space that reflects the new campus aesthetic while providing a dining option adjacent the pool deck.
